About Us

Dr. Hisham S. Elbatarny is a physician, researcher, author, and educator. He received his medical degrees in Egypt, completed his clinical research fellowship at Southampton-University-Hospital, UK. Dr. Elbatarny continued his research work as a postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, Canada. His area of research interest is cardiovascular biology. He is currently a professor and tri-campus science lead at the BScN Program at St. Lawrence College and associate professor in the department of biomedical and molecular sciences at Queen’s University. He teaches anatomy, physiology, clinical chemistry, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. He is the founder of the Human Anatomy Museum at St. Lawrence College. He received a number of teaching awards. His current research focuses on pedagogical tools in improving students’ learning.

Dr. Youssef Assar is a physician and educator. He received his medical degree at Mansoura University, Egypt. He worked as a general practitioner, internist and infectious disease specialist in Egypt with 23 years of experience. He is currently a professor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, ON, Canada, where he is teaching Anatomy and Physiology. Dr. Assar uses his long standing academic and clinical experience to support undergraduate nursing students. He developed a large set of “Virtual Cases in Clinical Chemistry” to support a chemistry course and always strives to innovate in teaching and learning.
